Timely Access to Care

Children have better functional outcomes when rehabilitation begins as soon as possible after injury or illness; therefore, minimizing barriers to admission is a key focus of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California. Located just 12 miles from Sacramento International Airport, the Northern California Shriners Hospital is centrally located to serve children throughout Northern California and Nevada. Children who meet physical criteria for admission to the hospital can be admitted regardless of the parent's ability to pay for service. Our on-site referral center works with our physicians and care managers to ensure that the evaluation process is initiated quickly.

Longitudinal Care

Pediatric rehabilitation often begins in the inpatient environment but does not end at hospital discharge. At Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, the pediatric rehabilitation program takes a longitudinal approach, providing on going outpatient care for children after a life changing illness, injury or procedure. As children grow and develop, their needs change. Our team will continue to provide follow-up care until the child is 18 years old.
